FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
JACKSON PARK HOSPITAL EARNS AN “A“ HOSPITAL SAFETY GRADE FROM LEAPFROG GROUP
Chicago, IL., November 19, 2024 – Jackson Park Hospital & Medical Center earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit watchdog focused on patient safety. Leapfrog assigns an “A”, “B”, “C”, “D”, or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country based on over 30 performance measures reflecting errors, accidents, injuries and infections, as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent them.
“Jackson Park Hospital & Medical Center is dedicated to providing compassionate and high-quality healthcare for the patients on the South Side of Chicago. We take pride in being acknowledged as one of the few hospitals in Illinois to have received and “A” for safety during Leapfrog’s Fall 2024 grading period. This was a team effort on the part of the entire Jackson Park Hospital Family,” states, Dr. William Dorsey, chairman and CEO of the hospital.
Serving the inner-city of the South Shore community since 1921, Jackson Park Hospital provides all major services that are available at most acute general hospitals, including an outpatient center and emergency services.
“Achieving an “A” Hospital Safety Grade is a significant accomplishment for Jackson Park,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “It reflects enormous dedication to patients and their families and the whole community should be proud. I extend congratulations to Jackson Park Hospital and Medical Center, its leadership, clinicians and staff for their tireless efforts to put patients first.”
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade stands as the only hospital ratings program focused solely on preventable medical errors, infections and injuries that kill more than 500 patients a day in the United States. This program is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.
