The Department of Spiritual Care at Jackson Park Hospital provides spiritual support for patients, their families and the hospital’s staff, inclusive of a rich diversity of religious or philosophical belief. Our spiritual care team consists of chaplains commissioned through the Gilead Ministry of Hyde Park Union Church, who have provided chaplaincy services at JPH for over 10 years.
The Gilead Ministry provides a holistic approach to patient care, ensuring that all within the Jackson Park Hospital community be aforded respect, dignity, and a recognition of their sacred lives. Our chaplains are caring listeners who have been trained to help with the special spiritual and human needs of our patients and their family members.
We work closely with your physician, nurses, and social workers in identifying when chaplain services will be beneficial to the care and well being of our patients and their family members.

In addition to meeting the individual spiritual and well being needs of our medical patients, their family members and staff of the hospital, the Department of Spiritual Care also provides 24/7 emergency pager response service, seasonal religious events, and spirituality groups on the behavioral medicine unit.
Jackson Park Hospital also provides patients and their families with a non-denominational Prayer Room for quiet and private reflection. The Prayer Room is located on the hospital’s first floor near the West Lobby and is available 24 hours a day.
