Through the affiliation with the John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County Pediatrics Residency Program, residents spend four weeks in PGY-1 in NICU, four weeks in PGY-II in inpatient pediatrics, four weeks in Pediatrics ER, and four weeks in PGY-III in outpatient pediatric specialty clinics.

Electives
Twelve weeks of elective time is available in PGY-III
Electives offered include:
Anesthesiology, Vascular Surgery, Rheumatology, Infectious Diseases, Pulmonary Medicine, Nephrology/Hemodialysis, Chemical Dependency, Podiatry, Hematology-Oncology, OB/Gynecology, and Emergency Medicine.
Conferences
The following conferences are specially designed for Family Medicine residents:
- Behavioral Medicine and Core Curriculum
- Family Practice Grand Rounds
- Daily Morning Report
- Journal Club
- Residents Case Presentations
- Morbidity and Mortality Conferences
In addition, residents are required to attend Clinical Pathology Conferences and the Tumor Board Conferences, each of which are held twice a month. Daily lectures on different topics are given by the attending physicians from two different specialties. Residents also work closely with administration as members of different committees.
